Lana Del Rey Announces New Album Is Complete and Next Single Due Out Next Week

Pop star Lana Del Rey has announced that her upcoming album Norman Fucking Rockwell is complete, and that a promotional single entitled “hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have—but i have it,” will be released next Wednesday. A snippet of the new track, along with a short new year message was posted on social media today.

“Happy New Year to everyone. I hope you enjoy the new song I’m putting out on the ninth it’s called ‘hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have- but i have it,'” the singer stated on social media.

Del Rey has also announced that she has finished work on her upcoming poetry book, which she has been writing for over the past year. The poetry book does not currently have a release date set.

In addition, the singer appears that she is unlikely to tour this upcoming year as well, telling her audience that she would like to “apologize in advance for upcoming cancellation of shows.” It is not known why she will be cancelling these appearances in the future.

Currently Del Rey has several festival appearances confirmed for the next year. This includes the Buku Music Festival in New Orleans, Louisiana and Lollapalooza Stockholm.

Last year the singer released “Venice Bitch,” and “Mariners Apartment Complex,” the latter of which was recorded with Jack Antonoff the frontman for Bleachers. Due to the proximity of these singles releases, along with the planned release date for Norman Fucking Rockwell, it is likely that these singles will be a part of the upcoming album.

“Mainers Apartment Complex,” blends the singer’s love of nostalgia backed by psychedelic folk instrumentals. Antonoff and Del Rey performed the song together at the Ally Coalition Talent Show, an event held by Antonoff to support New York City’s LGBTQ+ communities, particular its homeless youth.

“Venice Bitch,” is ten minute epic, that features electric guitar’s heavily, and pays a satirical homage to Venice Beach, California. This track was named one of our Top 50 songs of 2018.

“I played it for my managers and I was like, ‘yeah, I think this is the single I want to put out.’ And they were like, ‘it’s 10 minutes long,” Del Rey explained regarding the track in an interview with Zane Lowe on BBC Beats 1 Radio. “Are you kidding me?’ It’s called ‘Venice Bitch.’ Like why do you do this to us? Can you make a three-minute normal pop song? I was like, ‘well, end of summer, some people just wanna drive around for 10 minutes, get lost in some electric guitar.’”
