he punk rock/rapsupergroup Transplants took to Twitter on Christmas to announce they’re working on a new full-length project, the PunkNews reports. The post read, “We start writing a new album tomorrow.”

The supergroup is comprised of Tim Armstrong from Rancid, Travis Barker from Blink-182, Rob Aston from Death March and Kevin Bivona of The Interrupters. The band originally formed in 1999 with Armstrong and Aston leading the group, until they asked Barker to contribute on the drums in 2002 and Bivona on bass in 2011. Since then, the group has collaborated together on and off, releasing three studio albums and one EP. Their most recent body of work was an EP released in 2017 entitled Take Cover, which featured covered songs, a redone version of a song from Barker’s solo album called “Saturday Night” and a new song from the band called “Won’t Be Coming Back.”

In terms of some of the members’ separate projects, Blink-182 was just announced as headliners for the 2019 Riot Fest in Chicago after having to cancel last year due to medical issues concerning Barker. The band will be lighting up the stage as the festival celebrates their 15th anniversary. The newest material the band has released since was their 2016 album California. The band Rancid have also been announced as being headliners for two separate festivals, one being for Punk Rock Bowling 2019 and the other, Camp Anarchy. The band has been riding off performing songs from their latest record in 2017, Trouble Maker.

With the band starting early in the new year to write music, fans will most likely be able to listen to new material before 2019 is over. Whether fans get to listen to a few singles or the full-length album, they won’t be missing out from this beloved supergroup.

Michael Izquierdo: I'm a third-year student at The New School studying Journalism & Design in order to tell stories that are often misrepresented or unreported on. I want to take my writing and report on stories within the LGBTQ+ and Latinx community. In terms of music, play me a smooth jazz tune, an upbeat pop song, or an unheard indie artist and I'm sure I'll become infatuated by the music. I am always here to share someone else's story, to uplift a voice in any community.
