Polydor Records has hinted at a 2019 Kendrick Lamar release in now-deleted instagram story, according to Paste. The story also mentioned new albums from Lady Gaga, Madonna, Schoolboy Q, Lana Del Rey, and more.
The label, which handled European distribution for Interscope, posted a story with a list of artists releasing new albums in 2019, Lamar being one of them. The post has since been deleted, but it is not known whether Lamar had anything to do with it.
This news follows Lamar’s profile by the Los Angeles Times, in which he discusses the “Black Panther” soundtrack, as well as upcoming projects. “He’s friendly but cryptic, inclined toward vague generalities open to interpretation. He’s been writing long-form, but declines to articulate what it’s about, what themes are reoccurring and in what form it will eventually see release. He claims he hasn’t been working on a new album, but says that he’s constantly working. Someone in his camp mentions they’re going to the studio immediately after this.” Jeff Weiss writes.
Meanwhile, Top Dawg Entertainment executive Anthony Tiffith posted on Instagram, saying that we will not be hearing any new material from Lamar any time soon.
