Guns N’ Roses’ “Not In This Lifetime” Tour has been predicted to be the second-highest grossing tour of all time, generating around $562 million gross earnings since the beginning of their multi-year tour, according to Pollstar.
Blabbermouth mentioned that this tour ending up grossing $82 million in sales this year alone, with making an average of $3.7 million per show on the 24-date tour. In the two previous years, Pollstar reported that the tour grossed $188.4 million in 2016, with an average of $5.3 million per show and grossed $292.5 million in 2017, averaging out $3.9 million per show.
Some of the other top-five grossing tours of all time include, U2’s “360” at $735 million. The Rolling Stones’ “A Bigger Bang” at $558 million, Ed Sheeran’s “Divide” at $555 million and Coldplay’s “A Head Full of Dreams” tour at $523 million. Sheeran’s tour might outrank U2’s tour as the top-grossing tour of all time as it still has 45 more dates booked for the upcoming year.
It was only two years ago that Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan, the original members of the band, had reunited and planned to go on a reunion tour for all their fans. The Not In This Lifetime Tour began because of a Coachella appearance in April 2016 and North American tour in June of that same year, but since then, it has expanded to South America, Asia, and Europe over the years.
The band might be putting out new material as we enter the new year, which possibly means another tour for the legendary rock band. Guns N’ Roses guitarists Richard Fortus went on a KSHE95 interview and announced the band intended to make a new album and implied new songs have already been created. When the host asked Fortus if a new song could come out by the end of 2019, he responded “It could definitely happen.” The host followed up with, “Do you already have stuff?” to which Fortus responded with an ambiguous, “maybe.”
