Cannibal Corpse Guitarist Pat O’Brien Arrested for Burglary and Assault After His House Catches Fire and Wears Anti-Suicide Vest to First Court Appearance

Cannibal Corpse guitarist Pat O’Brien has been arrested after allegedly breaking into a neighbor’s home in Tampa, Florida last night as well as assaulting a sheriff deputy with a knife. All of these events occurred while O’Brien’s house was on fire.

According to Pitchfork, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, after being told to leave the neighbor’s home, O’Brien “pushed one of the residents to the ground against her will and fled into the backyard.” It was then reported by the deputies that O’Brien was hiding behind a fence not too far from the house he broke into. He would not follow the sheriff’s commands and instead took aim at one of the deputies with a knife leading O’Brien to be shot by a taser and getting arrested.

In the midst of this happening, According to Blabbermouth, Firefighters were trying to control the fire, successfully doing so. According to the PRP, “Police are still investigating the matter while firefighters are still attempting to determine the source of the blaze.” Officials said  two military-style flamethrowers inside the home, making the fire more challenging to handle for the firefighters. O’Brien is charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling with assault and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. His bond was set at $50,000.

The band was recently announced to join Slayer on their farewell tour beginning in May along with Lamb Of God, and Amon Amarth. No word yet if the band will still be apart of the tour.
