Russian Circles Announces February 2019 Tour Dates With Gouge Away

Rock band Russian Circles has announced dates for their upcoming tour in February 2019 with the band Gouge Away. Founded in 2004, the group is a trio of musicians whose music is instrumental rock. This sets them apart from many other performers, as their guitar, bass and drum performances are the center of their music. Without vocals to rely on, the artists prove themselves solely based on their instrumental skill. This leads to a very interesting and unique group, whose music has captivated rock fans for over a decade. Now they have announced a new tour to spread their music to audiences across the eastern United States.

Russian Circles’ last studio album, 2016’s Guidance, was a powerful 7 track performance that showcased some of the best the band had to offer. Only one song on the album, “Asa,” was under 5 and a half minutes in length, making each feel like a journey the listener is taking with the group. The project also packs an insane amount of diversity into only 7 songs, with tracks such as “Overboard” sounding more atmospheric than anything else on the album. The song is a large step away from the group’s usual style, showing their musical capability outside of the more aggressive sound they are known for. The song “Calla” brings listeners back to the usual sound of the group, relying on dark guitar and bass performances to create an almost ominous tone. Russian Circles has also recently revealed that they are in the middle of working on their next studio album; which will be the group’s 7th full album.

The band Gouge Away, who will be touring with Russian Circles as their support act, is another intense rock band. Their music leans on both singer Christina Michelle’s unique vocal performances and the rest of the band’s instrumental musical talent to stun audiences. The band’s 2018 album Burnt Sugar is the Gouge Away’s second major project and brought fans songs such as “Ghost” and “Hey Mercy.” While many of their songs are on the shorter side in length, they pack each track with a large amount of power and excitement. The tour for the groups begins on February 15th in Indianapolis, and continues through the end of the month. The full list of shows can be found below.
