Sunny Day Real Estate Members Offer Conflicting Reports About Dave Grohl Blocking The Release of New Album

Will the new Sunny Day Real Estate album ever get released? At this point, it is hard to tell. According to The PRP, it was recently reported that Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl blocked the album from releasing. Sunny Day Real Estate drummer William Goldsmith took to Facebook, hinting at the possible confliction. In the post, he says “Recently by way of objective ears I have been reminded of the fact that the greatest Sunny Day Real Estate record ever made remains silenced, abandoned and buried within the murkiest depths of David Grohl’s sock drawer. It’s both a shocking slap of reality and a swift kick in the balls.”

Former Foo Fighters drummer Nate Mendel made a brief comment on Goldsmith‘s original post. Mendel’s representative spoke for Mendel for Pitchfork, with Mendel replying: “There is no truth to this story.”
Goldsmith made a statement today clarifying the statement he made including Grohl. Going back to Facebook, Goldsmith stated:

“Dave’s sock drawer was meant to figuratively represent studio 606. To clarify – there are many ingredients that resulted in the abandonment of LP5. Ingredients that I had to put together myself and find out later on.” He also adds “Anyone who claims that there is no unfinished Sunny day record collecting dust I would have to agree to disagree. But that’s my opinion about it – I heard it objectively and it hit me like a ton of bricks.” It is unknown if the album will ever see the light of day but hopefully, it does.
