Psycho Vegas has announced their upcoming 2019 line up and a change of venue to the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, after enjoying a three year run at the Hard Rock Hotel. Despite the change of venue, the festival’s ethos will remain in tact, with artists such as Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats, Glassjaw and High On Fire joining the lineup.
The festival will take place from August 16-18, 2019 and will take place across four stages: the Mandalay Bay Events Center, the House of Blues, the Mandalay Bay Beach and the Rhythm & Riffs lounge. Passes will range from $249 for general admission weekend passes to $499 for VIP wristbands. Tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased here.
Past headliners for the event have included Alice Cooper, Mastodon, Swans and Danzig, with the festival’s tagline being “America’s rock ‘n’ roll bacchanal.” This change of venue is due to the increase in space available at the Mandalay Bay Resort. Festival organizers are planning on increasing the amount of tickets sold for the festival to go along with this venue change.
While the starting price for normal GA passes is $249, the festival also announces the Psycho Special 3-Day Pass, that sell tickets for $99. These passes have already sold-out and went on sale at 10:00 a.m.
Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats released their fifth album Wasteland earlier this year. According to frontman Kevin Starr’s interview with Loudwire, the concept for the album was “set in a land where people live in walled cities, under heavy surveillance, cut off and in fear of one another.”
The group is notorious for blending psychedelic rock, with gruesome imagery and lyrics that serves as a throwback to early heavy metal such as Alice Cooper and Black Sabbath. As Starr’s explained regarding their recent album: “Playing in the same room where so many classic albums were made definitely inspired us. Even small things like running the guitars through the same echo chamber that Van Halen used in the ’70s, it all added to the overall experience.”
Stoner metal outfit High on Fire released their eight studio album Electric Messiah, earlier this year. The album served as a tribute to the late Lemmy Kilmister of the band Motorhead, who passed away in 2015.
Despite frontman Matt Pike’s partial toe amputation, the band has continued making music and touring. Earlier this month it was reported that the band was back in the studio, and they have hinted at a possible 4/20 album release for national record store day.
Influential post-hardcore band Glassjaw were co-headlining tour with Quicksand earlier this year. In addition to this tour, the band made an appearance at the 2018 Arctangent Festival, alongside Sellac and Pelican.
Their latest album Material Control, was the group’s first fell length album in 15 years. The album was the first full length project that the band completed without their former guitarist Todd Weinstock, who left the band in 2004. Upon the release of the band’s 2002 album Worship and Tribute, Glassjaw was recognized as one of the most influential post-hardcore groups in the music scene.
UPDATE (3/11): Several more groups have been added to the line-up including: Carcass, En Minor, Grails, Truckfighters, The Black Angels, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Hangman’s Chair, Devil’s Master, Graveyard, Bad Religion, Fu Manchu, Clutch, Amenra, Old Man Gloom, Deafheaven and Rotting. En Minor is a group featuring Phil Anselmo, formerly of Pantera, and it will be their first show ever.
UPDATE (3/13): Psycho Vegas is ready for the full announcement of their 2019 lineup with a few more exciting editions to the lineup. These artists include Power Trip, The Faint, Cold Cave, Tobacco, Black Mountain, Nothing, The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, LA Witch, among others. UPDATE (3/23): Additional artists including Beach House, Full of Hell and Mark Lanegan have been added to the line-up, diversifying the eclectic line-up.
