Cody Votolato Announces New Album as JR Slayer You Found Me Out for January 2019 Release and Shares New Song “There Is Nothing Else Around Me”

Cody Votolato announces his new album, You Found Me as JR Slayer which will be out on January 20, 2019. His accomplished thrashy and discordant style, exhibited in early Blood Brothers albums and in Head Wound City, has evolved into a more melodic and experimental sound in recent years. In the first track on the album, the song, “I’ll Never Leave You” features Jenny Lee from Warpaint with Votolato.

The second track on the album, titled “There is Nothing Else Around Me” is a love song, with soft and heart warming lyrics,  I never knew you were out there but you landed just in time. Now you are my atmosphere, you’re the air I breathe. You are the land I see. It took 32 years for you to get to me. Didn’t you know you’d be the only thing I see.

You Found Me is a concept record. A journey, stumbling into long distance love, unexpectedly, not manipulated or coerced into being. A genuine connection that cannot be rationalized. It follows the path of emotions when thrust into a new beginning, not of your own volition, but of something seemingly greater. It grapples with the excitement, joy, pain, fear, confusion and gratitude that becomes all-consuming when entering a brand new unexpected love.

Votolato is from Redmond, Washington, best known for being the guitarist in the post-hardcore band The Blood Brothers. He grew up in the eastside suburbs of Seattle and attended Redmond High School with his bandmates in the late 1990’s when the band originally formed.

Rocky Votolato (Cody’s older brother) is a folk musician and solo artist who played in the band Waxwing, as well as with Rudy Gajadhar, the older brother of The Blood Brothers’ drummer Mark Gajadhar. Votolato also contributed artwork to The Blood Brothers’ album …Burn, Piano Island, Burn.

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
