Singer Margo Price has released a powerful new music video for her song “All American Made.” The song, which is the title track to her 2017 album All American Made, features Price’s stunning vocals and instrumentals reminiscent of classic American country music. Margo Price is a country singer who lives in Nashville, TN and has dedicated her life to her music, moving to the country music capital by herself in order to focus solely on creating what she loves. Her first major label debut, Midwest Farmer’s Daughter, was released in 2016 and showcased Price’s shimmering voice. She followed up this release with her sophomore album, All American Made, which was supported by a feature from country music legend Willie Nelson on the song “Learning To Lose.”
Now, Margo is back to stun fans once again with a somber look at modern America in her new music video. The video beautifully switches between shots of Margo Price delivering her signature vocals and images of the true faces of America, the people. Documenting people in their day to day lives, the nearly 6 minute video captures the diversity of the American public in an era where our differences tend to drag us apart. Featuring no actors, “All American Made” allows for people to take in a small slice of the lives of many and showcases the struggles facing many today. The video is directed by Kimberly Stuckwisch, who has had a role in the creation of many music videos in the past, including Billie Eilish’s iconic video “When The Party’s Over” and Father John Misty’s playful “Mr. Tillman.”
One of the most poignant shots in the film takes place 5 minutes into the video, showing a group of refugees walking down an empty road at night. In the modern world the topic of immigration and how to help those less fortunate than ourselves is often the victim of harsh rhetoric from both sides of the political spectrum; Margo Price and Kimberly Stuckwisch take this opportunity not to push an agenda, however, but to put on display for everyone the reality of the issues that face many in America today. Supported by the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition, the placement of this shot is meant to encourage compassion towards each other and hopefully spur people into actions that would help their fellow man. The video moves from this scene to close with a long shot of children reciting the US national anthem. This powerful imagery is meant to bring people together through something nearly everyone in America can relate to; showing that while we may disagree, we are all still here together and need to work together even in times when things seem bleak. Overall, the music video attempts to be more than just a showcase of a song or unique visuals, it is meant to be a statement of America today and the issues that we face moving forward.
