Punk band Laura Jane Grace and the Devouring Mothers will be launching a US headline tour next year, to launch during the Spring. This tour will see the band go across 29 different stops across the nation, with their first stop being the SXSW tour in Austin Texas, with their last stop being in Nashville, Tennessee on April, 28.

Mercy Union, the New Jersey rock quartet featuring Jared Hart of The Scandals and Benny Horowitz of The Gaslight Anthem and Control Top will be supporting this band on the tour across their various dates. Tickets for this tour can be bought at the Bloodshot Records website here.

The headline tour will be in support of the band’s newest album Bought to Rot, which was released today via Bloodshot Records. According to a press release for the band, this album retains the Laura Jane Grace’s punk roots while hosting a variety of narratives across its 14 track list.

“My approach musically to the record was that I wanted it to feel like a mixtape,” Grace recently told Rolling Stone. “Like ok. you’ve got this Nirvana-like song, you’ve got a Cure song. It was musically freeing, in that way, to just be playing whatever was coming to me as I was writing and not having to think about it.”

Bought to Rot is partially inspired by Full Moon Fever, released by Tom Petty in 1989. According to promotional material for this project, Full Moon Fever was the first album that Grace had ever purchased, while Bought to Rot sees the artist record the album at the same age Petty was when he recorded Full Moon Fever.

“I bought a ’64 Fender Jaguar off Stan Lynch, drummer of the Heartbreakers, and I always like to think that maybe Petty had picked it up and strummed a couple chords on it,”Grace explained. “I always liked the idea of having my fingers dance on the same fret board as my hero.”

While Grace is best known as the front woman for punk band Against Me!, she explains that this album will be exploring new topics that are more personal for her. The artist will continue working with Against Me! however; with the band recently releasing cover of the Jim Carrol band’s “People Who Died”  earlier this year.

One of these new tracks is “Airplane Song,” that was released last month off this recent release. This track sicusses the relation of the song with a lover, providing an interpersonal portrait for the artist.

“I don’t want to write about these same things anymore,” Grace elaborated. “I need some new sources of inspiration. And I don’t want to be negative. I want to write some positive, happy songs, and I wanted that to be inspired by positive, happy living, too.”
