Eventbrite Plans to Phase Out Ticketfly and Switch to New Ticketing Platform

Eventbrite is planning to phase out Ticketfly and introduce new service called Eventbrite Music, according to Brooklyn Vegan. The new platfrom is set to include in-app ticket purchases through Instagram, as well as similar features through Facebook and Bandsintown.

“Eventbrite, a global ticketing and event technology platform, today announced Eventbrite Music, the company’s new solution created specifically for independent music venues, promoters, and festivals to power their ticketing, streamline their business operations, and distribute their tickets to a massive audience,” Eventbrite said in a press release. “Built atop the Eventbrite platform, Eventbrite Music brings together the world-class expertise and functionality of multiple platforms following the acquisitions of Ticketfly and ticketscript last year. The new solution which is live today in North America and Australia, leverages the strength and reliability of a platform that powered 3 million events around the world in 2017 while delivering specifically upon the nuanced needs of live music venues and promoters. Eventbrite Music is backed by a dedicated team of the industry’s top music experts, who together with promoters, festivals, and more than 1,000 venues, make up a tight-knit independent live music community.”

Built with music venues in mind, the benefits of Eventbrite music will include enhanced marketing and distribution capabilities, better checkout experience and mobile-first technology. The platform will connect promoters with fans to grow their live audience, enable venues to to either embed checkout in their website or use two-step purchase flow via Instagram, Facebook and Bandsintown, and mobile-optimization for fans.

“Over the years the core needs of a concert promoter haven’t changed: They need to reduce friction in their day-to-day operations, promote profitable shows, sometimes hundreds of them a year, and deliver a great experience for artists and fans,” said Andrew Dreskin, President of Eventbrite’s music division. “The amount of thought and work we’ve put into addressing these needs has been a herculean effort. I’ve been doing this a long time and I can say with conviction that Eventbrite Music is the best piece of ticketing software that I’ve ever worked on. We’re excited to put this solution into the hands of independent promoters around the world and help to continue to fuel a thriving independent music ecosystem.”
