As their Cold and Black and Infinite North America 2018 tour continues to enthrall fans across the country Nine Inch Nails is continuing to keep things fresh by digging into their deep catalog of songs. This time they pulled out “Starfuckers, Inc,” a song they haven’t performed in ten years, reports the PRP.
Fan video has surfaced of the band performing the song live at Oct. 25 show at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. The show was the first of three shows booked back-to-back at the venue.
“Starfuckers, Inc” comes off the band’s third studio album, The Fragile, which was released in 1999. At almost twenty years old, the single is not usually in the band’s set list.
This is not the first time that that NIN has decided to go for deep cuts on their current tour. The band has been playing a series of older songs during their performances.
The band played “Happiness in Slavery” off their 1992 EP, at the end of their New York show in September. The first time the song had been performed by them in 23 years. During their final show in Brooklyn, the band played the EP Broken in its entirety.
That was not the only surprised they pulled out. During the tour, they also played “The Perfect Drug,” a song they have never performed live. The song comes out of the soundtrack for the David Lynch movie, Lost Highways. The band’s frontman, Trent Reznor, has said that this is one of the songs that he has never been satisfied with, which explains his reluctance to play it live.
The news of rarely-played music is not the only news coming out of the Cold and Black and Infinite tour. Recently, the band released a video of a live on-stage performance of the band performing “Ahead of Ourselves.” In the black and white video, fans get a first-person view of what the band sees during a concert.
As the tour continues, it’s impossible to tell what the band is preparing to pull out next. Nine Inch Nails seems to be determined to keep fans on their toes, and with their large discography built over thirty years, they can do just that.
The Cold and Black and Infinite North America 2018 tour continues until December 2018 and is scheduled to end in Los Angeles. Fans can check tour dates and tickets here.
