After teasing that he will be involved with the soundtrack of the new Grinch remake just last month in September, phenomenal rapper Tyler, the Creator has just officially unveiled his version of “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch.” The track is not the only contribution from Tyler, who in fact penned an original cut titled “I am the Grinch.”

The soundtrack as a whole was scored by the beloved Oscar-nominated Danny Elfman. His soundtrack, along with the movie, is slated to be released on November 9th. The film is titled “Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch,’ which is different from the 1966 original “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” or the Jim Carrey featuring “Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas” from 2000.

Tyler is not the only rapper featured on the soundtrack either, with the creators of the animated film also seeking contributions from Pharrell as the movie’s narrator, and the legendary duo Run-DMC chipping in with two songs titled “Christmas Is” and “Christmas in Hollis.” In addition, the titular role will be voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch, with Rashida Jones, Kenan Thompson, Angela Lansbury, and more also to be featured.

Tyler’s song is nothing particularly new, following the same simple structure of the classic original song, but with the added productional flourishes and Tyler’s deep tone, it’s a pretty refreshing update.

The weekend of November 9 seems to looking to be very exciting for Tyler, since right after the movie is released, November 10 sees the beginning of his star-studded Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival at Dodge Stadium in Los Angeles.
