It’s been a few years since Radkey released their proper debut record Delicious Rock Noise and today we have the honor of premiering a unique video for one of the album’s best tracks “Feed My Brain.” The video is a black and white clip that is set at an early-20th century circus freak show, with the action centered around a giant but beautiful woman.
With shots of various “circus freaks” like a rubber girl, a human blockhead, a glass walking act and more, eventually the giant takes the stage. At first the audience is enthralled, but then for whatever reason their interest turns to disdain as they begin heaving objects at her, causing her to lash out. Though most of the crowd flees in terror, one man is thoroughly intrigued by her beauty and searches for the escaped “freak.”
When he finds her, the two connect emotionally and physically, with the normal-sized man smoking a hilariously massive post-coital cigarette and the giant putting on the man’s hat. She then lures him back into the box she’s living in and carnies attempt to bring her back into captivity. Their ropes are no match for her outsize strength, as she smashes the wooden abode into a million flying pieces.
Musically, the song hits a sweet spot between metal and punk, with the chugging instrumentation serving as the perfect complement to lead singer Dee Radke providing a Danzig-style vocal performance. “Feed My Brain” follows previous singles “Basement” and “St. Elwood,” which were non-album releases.
“We have always been really proud of how this project turned out but it wasn’t released for reasons beyond our control,” said bassist Isaiah Radke in a statement about the video. “So stoked that we can finally share it with you.”
