Fine Lines are a hard rock band hailing from Nashville, TN and features members that have spent time cutting their teeth in the Indiana and Alabama rock scenes. They recently released a new single called “Stranger” and today we have the premiere of the video for that song.
The song shows off the band’s rock chops but also shows its Nashville influences, peppering a twangy honky-tonk riff from guitarists Chris Probasco and B.L. Reed with gritty distortion and Probasco’s just-rough-enough-around-the-edges vocal delivery. The band’s rhythm section — bassist Dustyn Roth and drummer James Thompson — lay down a quick-paced groove that gives this hard-rocking song just a little bit of soul.
“The video for ‘Stranger’ was directed by Jacqueline Justice,” said Probasco about the clip. “The images and themes in the video are informed by the song’s lyrical content, warning against our voyeuristic tendencies and the way a person’s innocent, day to day activities can seem subversive, even slightly sinister, when viewed from the outside and in secret.”
Probasco and Roth hail from Indiana, with the former spending time in the band Goliath. Meanwhile, Reed and Thompson are from Alabama where they played in bar bands. The group released their album Contact on September 28th of this year, which features fast-paced rockers like “Stranger” as well as more subdued numbers with softer vocals and instrumentation. Reed and Probasco met while working at a Nashville hotel, combining forces to form Fine Lines.
