According to Pitchfork, Sonic Youth have announced a set of film events that some of the band members will be present at. The film event, titled “30 Years of Daydream Nation” is set to take place in many cities across North America. The event will celebrate the band’s 1988 album, Daydream Nation, with the first even happening at Portland’s Hollywood Theatre on October 20. Each date of the event will feature different speakers and performers but will all be centered around the a concert film that was directed by Lance Bangs. The film will feature the band performing the full album. The band members that will be present at some of the events include Kim Gordon, Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley. Thurston Moore will not be attending any of the events as a speaker of performer. Some of the other speakers include Aaron Mullan, Gerard Cosloy, Michael Lavine and Lance Bangs, who will be present at each of the events.
Along with the concert film from Lance Bangs, the event will also feature some films that were made around the release of Daydream Nation. These films include Charles Atlas’ 1989 documentary as well as footage of the band that was featured on Dutch television called On Rust.
