MØ’s new album Forever Neverland is coming out on October 19 and today she shares a video for the densely-layered title track.
The video features shots of the singer in personal moments, whether dancing in her mirror or gazing at the sky in the park. The song, which begins with a breezy acoustic guitar figure and a simple drum beat blossoms into a richly-arranged pop song with captivating lyrics like “Let me out / I’m trapped in a blur / Started out the way I wanted but it’s weird now,” and a dance-inducing instrumental breakdown in the post-chorus.
It’s been four years since she released her debut album , though she’s stayed plenty active making appearances on songs with Diplo like “Lean On” and “Kamikaze” and released one-off singles like “Drum.” She also released an EP titled When I Was Young in 2017.
Since the release of her first album No Mythologies to Follow, MØ’s profile has risen and that’s telling in the number of stars that make guest appearances on Forever Neverland. Naturally, frequent collaborator Diplo makes an appearance on “Sun In Our Eyes,” while Charli XCX appears on “If It’s Over” and Empress Of on “Red Wine.”
MØ is the stage name of Karen Marie Aagaard Ørsted Andersen, a 30 year old singer and producer who hails from Denmark.
