Noel Nights @ Town Hall 12/16

Rufus and Martha Wainwright are throwing a Christmas celebration at New York City’s Town Hall for the first time after a four year hiatus. The show will take place December 16 and features an all-star ensemble this year. Emmylou Harris, Sufjan Stevens, Sloan Wainwright, Teddy Thompson, Jenni Muldar, Joan as Police Woman, and Lucy Wainwright Roche are scheduled to perform as well as some additional unannounced special guests. Over the years, the show has taken place in Montreal, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Nashville in addition to New York City. New Yorkers are excited to welcome the Christmas show back to the city.

Noel Nights was originally created by Kate McGarrigle, legendary musician and songwriter. After she was diagnosed with sarcoma in 2006, Kate turned the show into a benefit concert to support cancer research. Following her death in 2010, Rufus and Martha revived the benefit Christmas show in memory of Kate. This year, all proceeds from the show will go to Stand Up to Cancer through the Stand Up To Cancer Kate McGarrigle Fund which has appointed Rufus and Martha as ambassadors. The fund aims to provide music therapy resources to cancer patients as well as funds sarcoma research. Bringing together members of their family in addition to special musical guests, the show is perfect for enjoying with family and friends to celebrate the holidays.
