Surviving Soundgarden Members Speak About Band’s Future After Chris Cornell’s death

In May of 2017 the music world was shook by the loss of Soundgarden frontman, Chris Cornell.  Cornell was found dead after taking his own life in a hotel room in Detroit on May 18, 2017 shortly after a Soundgarden concert.

At the recent unveiling of a bronze life-size statue of the late singer in his hometown of Seattle, WA the surviving members of Soundgarden discussed their future together and the grieving process with Rolling Stone.

According to The PRP, the band’s drummer Matt Cameron stated “We’re just still taking our time and giving ourselves space to process everything. We would certainly love to try to continue to do something, figure out something to do together.”

Bassist, Ben Shepard noted “On a personal level, we haven’t even gotten a chance to hang out, just us three, yet. …We’re going through natural healing, then thinking about the natural next step.”

Cornell’s family, including widow Vicky Cornell who recently claimed that his death held “botched investigation” was in attendance for the unveiling of the commemorative statue along with his former band mates.  You can watch the unveiling ceremony, held at The Museum of Pop Culture here.

A box set honoring Cornell is set for release on November 16 and will feature previously unreleased songs, as well as different options for fans to choose from.  The set will also include notes from former band mates and colleagues.
