According to Reddit post, Kevin Shields gave an interview this August with Japanese outlet Wowow at Summer Sonic 2018, during which he provides a pretty huge update on My Bloody Valentine’s next release. In the short interview, which is condensed into quick rapid-fire answers from Shields, he reveals that the EP they teased earlier this year is actually now a short album of seven or eight songs. Even more salivating for fans of the notoriously un-prolific band is the revelation that they should be done with it at the end of November.

In addition, Shields went on to expand on the band’s future recording plans. “We’ll also be recording new material next year,” he said. “There will be a lot of new material coming in the next… in the next year, there will be about two new records.”

Of course, fans of MBV have heard this all before. In March, the new EP was supposed to have been done by June. Granted, the band did debut a new song at Meltdown Festival this summer, so they likely are on their way to new material. Will fans have to wait nearly 20 years between Loveless and m b v or will Shields and company deliver on schedule? Time will only tell and the end of November isn’t a long way away, so keep your eyes open for more news on the MBV front.
