Greensky Bluegrass Announces New Album All For Money for January 2019 Release

Greensky Bluegrass is a Michigan based five-piece bluegrass/country band that has been making music for more than 18 years. The band has evolved through the decades with, according to a press release, their “own version of bluegrass music, mixing the acoustic stomp of a stringband with the rule-breaking spirit of rock & roll.”

Starting the new year, Greensky will be celebrating the release of their seventh studio album, entitled, All For Money. The new record includes 12 brand new songs that were all recorded at Echo Mountain Recording in Asheville, North Carolina with co-producers Dominic John Davis (who was Jack White’s bassist) and Glenn Brown. The record is set to come out on January 18th via the band’s own label, Big Blue Zoo Records. All For Money follows the band’s 2016 album, Shouted, Written Down & Quoted which came out September of that year.

Paul Hoffman, who plays the mandolin in the band commented on the album, saying that, “The title of the album comes from a song with the same name.  I thought on this concept for a long time. This paradox that exists in doing what you love or having your dreams come true. We are so truly blessed. But also, what if the support and all the attention starts to feel like crowding and containment.” He continued with, “I wanted to be careful about how to say this. It’s tricky. I’m not harboring any resent or regret. Far from it in fact. Pride and honor. But if we get tired or if we’re making decisions based on our needs to eat or the desires of others, well, that’s just not ‘doing what you love.’ The song and the album are so much about us. It’s about what we do and the love we receive in return.  So ‘if you need a voice, I’m yours friend. For something better in the end.”

The release of the new album coincides with the newly announced winter tour that will kick off in January of 2019. Greensky will be joined by Circles Around the Sun, Billy Billy Strings as well as more that will be announced further down the road. The winter dates will begin on January 10th in Albany New York and will continue throughout January and February before closing it out on February 9th in Detroit Michigan. Greensky is currently on the road with the remaining of their Fall 2018 dates.
