The Raconteurs Announce Plans to Release First New Album in 11 Years in 2019

The Raconteurs

After ten long years, the Raconteurs have announced that they are releasing a new untitled album sometime in 2019. The news comes along with the announcement of a ten-year-anniversary reissue of the band’s second album Consolers of the Lonely, which is being released under the Third Man Records’ Vault subscription service.

The names of the two new tracks have not been released, but will be included on the reissue. According to a press release from Third Man Records, the band is keeping the tracks tightly under wraps and fans will have to wait until the reissue is released to get an idea of how they sound.

“That’s right, they’re not giving you track titles or even letting you hear a snippet of these two tracks. You’ll have to wait until this package hits your doorstep. The time for you all to get pretty dang excited about what is to come next year begins right… NOW!”

Along with 7” for the two new singles, the reissue will include a colored vinyl of Consolers of the Lonely, reimagined cover art, an insignia patch and stickers depicting art from the album.

The new collection is the first sign of life for the Raconteurs since they released the original version of the album in 2008. The album was a follow up to the band’s debut album Broken Boy Soldiers that was released in 2006.

The band started as a side project that includes former White Stripes guitarist Jack White. Besides White, the band is made up of Brendan Benson, as well as Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler of the Greenhornes.

Since the Raconteurs’ hiatus, White has kept busy working on his solo music, and has released music with Lawrence through their band, the Dead Weather.  He also performed a free show at the Tesla factory at Fremont, California and released his documentary, Jack White: Kneeling at the Anthem.

Aside from White’s musical career, the artist is the founder of Third Man Records, which has released other reissues of his work, such as the White Stripes 20th anniversary collection. The label also released the Greenhornes’ last album, Four Stars.

Looking at their output one thing is for sure. Even though the Raconteurs have been dormant the members of the band have not. Thankfully, they look ready to pick up where they left off ten years ago
