McDowell Mountain Musical Festival (M3F) founder John Largay believes in the 3 C’s — community, culture and charity, as proceeds for M3F benefit various non-profit organizations. With such a positive influence, bands get behind this festival knowing they are contributing to the community at large.

McDowell Mountain Musical Festival (M3F) has announced its lineup for the weekend of March 1-3 at Margaret T. Hance Park featuring headlining sets by Odesza, Empire of the Sun, Kurt Vile and the Violators, and Umphrey’s McGee. Other artists to join include, Margo Price, Toro Y Moi, Marian Hill, Big Wild and Jungle, with Phoenix Afrobeat Orchestra, Noodles and the Uncommon Good representing the home team.

It’s all about the musical experience and part of the show includes embracing children into the picture. Whereas most concerts or festivals adhere to a strict policy of 18 and over, M3F has created a Kid’s Zone where family friendly activities will take place, as well as Live Art sessions and a Drum Circle for concertgoers. Tickets can be purchased here.

Established in 2004, M3F had previous headliners including Beck, Father John Misty, The Avett Brothers, Grouplove and dozens of others. This year, the festival donated a total of $65,000 to Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Habitat for Humanity and Smiles for Special Needs. A portion of the proceeds will go directly to Phoenix Children’s Hospital Music Therapy Program  and other proceeds benefiting local non-profit organizations.

Other notable artists to perform include: Allah-Las, Big Something, Cheap Hotels, Chicano Batman, Evan Giia, Kevin Morby, Kauf, Lettuce, Lukas Nelson & Promise Of The Real, Mansionair, Maribou State, Mt. Joy, NoMBe, Opiuo, Ripe, Sunsquabi, the Hip Abduction, the Knocks, the Sheepdogs, Treezus, Twiddle, Wafia and Young & Sick.

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
