If you have metal fever, look no further. In March 2019, Download Festival will have two shows in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia. Hosted by Live Nation, Unified and Secret Sounds, Download Festival boasts over 36 metal bands with five stages. Ready to rock the audience, there will be performances by Ozzy Osbourne, Slayer, Judas Priest, Alice in Chains, Ghost, Rise Against, The Amity Affliction, Anthrax and many more.
On March 9, the first show hits Parramatta Park in Sydney and the second show on March 11 in Melbourne at Flemington Racecourse. You can buy tickets at Ticketmaster.
Ozzy Osbourne who has performed in previous Download Festivals said, “People around my age go, ‘I’m 65 now. I’m retired.’ Then they fucking die. My father got a bit of cash from the job he had, did the garden and died. And I’m going, ‘That’s a bit of an anticlimax after working so many years in a factory. I ain’t retiring. People still want to see me, so what’s there to retire from?”
Osbourne kicked off his No More Tours 2 final world tour in April and is expected to close it with the Australian shows in March 2019. Osbourne said he will continue to play gigs but not embark on the marathon runs through US, Europe and Australia.
Some of the bands at the upcoming festival include, Ghost, a band from Linköping, Sweden which Entertainment Weekly declared, “One of the most dynamic loud bands on the planet.” Judas Priest the English band from the early 70’s changed the face of heavy metal. Alice In Chains have garnered multiple Grammy nominations, sold more than 30 million albums worldwide and amassed a die-hard international fan base whose members number in the millions. They remain one of the most successful and influential American rock bands of all time.
In January 2018, Slayer devastated metalheads across the globe, announcing they were calling it a day, along with a mammoth good bye world tour. After thirty-seven years, twelve studio albums and countless shows, Slayer helped define the thrash-metal genre.
The show will definitely be noteworthy with final world tour performances by Osbourne and Slayer, as well as incredible talent on five separate stages. The mosh pit will be live but fans must be 18 and over to attend.
