The Dillinger Escape Plan’s former lead vocalist Greg Puciato has made statement saying that he is interested in doing a few special performances with the band. In addition, Puciato has given an update regarding his supergroup metal band Killer Be Killer, which is set to release their sophomore album in 2019.
“I actually just talked to Ben for the first time since we broke up. I got off the phone with him right before doing this interview actually! I’m feeling pretty fucking good, man, all things considered, Puciato explained. “And look, time just passes. I don’t know who I said this too, but I would be doing the exact same thing if the band hadn’t broken up.”
Puciato explained it was normal for him to take a bit of time off from the band, explaining that he had focused on other projects such as his work with The Black Queen and Killer Be Killed. After the announcement of The Dillinger Escape Plan’s break-up in 2017, Puciato has released The Black Queen’s sophomore album Infinite Games, along with the Killer Be Killed’s upcoming album.
“We always took time off between records, and during those time periods, I would never really stop,” Puciato elaborated. “I’m a gas pedal, so in between One Of Us Is The Killer and Disassociation, I did both Killer Be Killed and Fever Daydream’ They were only three years apart, so I was just rippin’ at all times.”
The vocalist took time to explain that a reunion with his former heavy metal band would not occur at any time in the near future. “We may one day play celebration Dillinger Escape Plan shows, as we have six albums where we could play entirely different sets. But as far as creatively going, to scream more shit at people? Not right now,” says Puciato.
He later explained that Killer Be Killed, his supergroup that has members from the bands Soulfly, Mastodon and Converge, currently has a few demos recorded. They are currently working on whether they will keep the demos or write and record more songs for it.
“We have 10 songs that are demos, and how we proceed from here is more of a matter of scheduling and whether we agree if those ten songs are enough or if we need to write more,” Puciato revealed. “We have not had those conversations really because we are all busy as fuck on our other things.”
Earlier this year Max Cavalera from Soulfly, who serves as Killer Be Killed’s second vocalist and guitarist, gave an update on the upcoming release back in April. Cavalera also announced the spring release of the album in the same interview.
“We’re actually practicing tomorrow. The guys are flying here to Phoenix and we’re gonna go to our Soulfly place of practice, which is like this big warehouse that we have [with] all our gear there,” Cavalera explained. “So they’re flying in, and they rented a house. So, yeah, we’re gonna finally, finally get some new stuff. We’ll try to write as much as we can. I’m really excited.”
