The Smashing Pumpkins Announces Winter 2018 Limited 30th Anniversary Tour Dates

The Smashing Pumpkins have had quite a year and now it looks like that year is going to wrap up in style as the band has announced a new string of concert dates this winter in celebration of their 30th anniversary. The 7-date tour will see them headline an already sold out concert in Chicago along with some other stops in the Midwest before finishing in Arizona. These dates will give fans another chance to catch what has been one of the most-impressive tours of the year as the “Shiny and Oh So Bright Tour” saw Billy Corgan reuniting with original guitarist James Iha for a 3 hour extravaganza that saw the band perform plenty of deep cuts and mesmerizing cover songs along with a dazzling stage show.

While initial ticket sales were sluggish, the positive early shows generated plenty of buzz and the tour ended up becoming a huge success, with the band selling well over 300,000 tickets over the 38-date tour. Fans were concerned that images of former bassists D’Arcy Wretzky and Melissa Auf der Maur were scrubbed from the video montages of the band’s old performances that were displayed during the concert. Corgan has gone on record saying that the bridge has been burned with Wretzky so it’s no surprise that he would remove any images of her from the old footage.

After months of speculation and talk from Corgan about a new recording project with acclaimed producer Rick Rubin, The Smashing Pumpkins have announced that a brand new full-length album, Shiny And Oh So Bright, VOL. 1 / LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun, which is set to drop on November 16th.
