Popular Japanese heavy metal band, Babymetal recently released a live video for their song Distortion 12. The video was filmed at the 2018 Download Festival and features some unenthusiastic choreography performed by vocalists of the group Moametal, Su-metal, and Yuimetal in front of a crowd of heavy metal fans engaging in moshing. The trio played Download Festival this year alongside The Hives and Marilyn Manson.
Babymetal formed in 2010 and is a fusion of Japanese pop and heavy metal known as “Kawaii Metal”. The group gained international attention opening for acts including The Red Hot Chili Peppers on their 2017 tour. In Spring 2018 the Kawaii Metal trio headlined tour that took them across the U.S. and Europe shortly after the death of their guitarist, Miko Fujioka.
According to The PRP News, the live performance of Distortion 12 will be featured on an upcoming vinyl release for Record Store Day’s Black Friday edition. The band will also be releasing new graphic novel this month entitled Apocrypha: The Legend of Babymetal.
