HARD Day Of The Dead is returning to the site where it all began, the LA State Historic Park, for this year’s incarnation of the festival. On November 3, HARD Day Of The Dead returns to the heart of Downtown LA for its Dia De Los Muertos-themed celebration following the park’s multi-year multi-million dollar restoration. The festival promises stacked lineup for the event, with Justice (LIVE), Die Antwoord and Knife Party headlining.
Justice have announced that HARD Day Of the Dead will be the last live show they plan to play with their current Woman Worldwide production. The electronic house album for Woman Worldwide dropped on August 24 after which the French duo embarked on a revolutionary tour that employed intricate stage lighting, minimal video effects and moving lighting fixtures, while refraining from relying on video or lighting effects as the primary focus of the performances. The French pair originally played the first HARD Day of The Dead on November 3 in 2012.
South African rap pioneers Die Antwoord are preparing to release their last studio album together, titled 27. The album will be “released unusually over the next year or so” and feature “27 songs and many collaborations with our favourite artists in the world.” The group has released one single from the upcoming album so far,“Love Drug”, which was released on May 5. The duo were recently name-dropped on Eminem’s latest album Kamikaze, with the rapper reigniting their feud on the song Greatest, calling Ninja and Yolandi ungrateful, which compelled them to hit back on social media.
Australian electronic music duo Knife Party re-confirmed a brand new EP for 2018 via a Reddit AMA on July 13th. As of September 20, they have also dipped their toes into the world of podcasting with their show “Knifecast”, an online radio show that is “halfway between a podcast and just playing music.” They said if it was successful they would include guest DJs that were friends of the duo to come on in future episodes “and rant about how much they hate something.”
Cashmere Cat, Shiba San, Lee Foss, Rodriguez Jr (LIVE), J Phlip, Omnom, Rybo b2b Lubelski, Dateless, Playero, DNMO, Thee Mike B and Masha round out the lineup for this year’s show. Tickets to HARD Day of the Dead can be purchased here.
