Pixies have announced a celebration of their first two albums, the mini-album Come On Pilgrim and their debut full length album Surfer Rosa to take place at Brooklyn Steel for a three-night engagement on November 18, 19, and 20. In honor of the albums’ 30th anniversaries, Pixies will release a triple LP titled Come On Pilgrim…It’s Surfer Rosa that will feature both albums as well as the 1986 radio concert Live From the Fallout Shelter, one of the band’s earliest recordings. The LP is scheduled to drop September 28 via 4AD. The Brooklyn Steel shows are the only current US shows announced in celebration of the LP, information unclear whether they will tour additional cities. They will also play five shows at London’s Roundhouse and two shows at Mexico City’s Teatro Metropólitan before heading to New York City. They’re slated to play music from both albums as well as songs from those early years that do not appear on the anniversary LPs.

Pixies are fresh off an extensive North American summer tour with Weezer before they embark on their multi-date anniversary tour. With six studio albums under their belt in addition to several compilation albums, Pixies have acted as a direct influence over the years to bands like Nirvana, Radiohead, Blur, Arcade Fire, and Weezer. Pixies have garnered mass popularity across the globe, particularly in the UK and Europe despite their Boston origins. Kurt Cobain cited Surfer Rosa as one of his main musical influences, even talking affectionately in a Rolling Stones interview of how “Smells Like Teen Spirit” was a direct attempt to “rip off the Pixies.” Pixies’ prevalent and active nature in rock history proves that the band will have no problem withstanding the test of time. Since reuniting in 2004 after their long break, Pixies have toured globally and have put out two full length albums, 2014’s Indie Cindy and 2016’s Head Carrier, which both met wide acclaim.

Celebrate Pixies’ 30th anniversary of their influential two first albums this November at Brooklyn Steel.
