Metal collective Metal Allegiance have announced a Black Sabbath tribute show to take place at Brooklyn Bowl on 10/27. The band will perform Black Sabbath’s eponymous debut album in its entirety followed by a special set of Metal Allegiance’s original songs from their two albums. Joining Metal Allegiance for their Black Sabbath tribute show will be Judas Priestess, Alekhine’s Gun, and Magus Beast. Overkill vocalist Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth will step in for David Ellefson as Ellefson will be performing will Megadeth that night. The rest of the members of the collective – Mike Portnoy of Sons of Apollo, Alex Skolnick of Testament, and Mark Menghi – will perform at the Brooklyn Bowl show in support of their sophomore album, Volume II – Power Drunk Majesty, which dropped on September 7 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment. The album features a slew of guest musicians, including Ellsworth, Max Cavalera, Trevor Strnad, John Bush, Mark Tornillo, Floor Jansen, and Johan Hegg. Mark Osegueda and Troy Sanders also make their returns on the album.
The heavy metal supergroup, Metal Allegiance, was formed on Long Island in New York in 2014 by Mark Menghi who serves as the bassist and songwriter. Menghi then recruited friends and metal mainstays Ellefson on bass, Skolnick on guitar, and Portnoy on drums. The collective hires guest musicians to provide vocals on both studio recordings and live performance as they don’t currently have an official lead singer. The band is known for their highly collaborative work and celebration of heavy metal music, bringing together trail blazers across the genre to create and perform together. Their work has been critically acclaimed, their first album ranking on Billboard 200 and reaching number 27 on the Top Rock Albums chart. Although the members have commitments to their own bands, they’ve managed to tour as Metal Allegiance many times, performing throughout the US as well as global festivals like Loud Park Festival in Japan and Bloodstock Festival in the UK.
Don’t miss Metal Allegiance pay tribute to metal veterans Black Sabbath as they perform their debut album in its entirety at Brooklyn Bowl this October.
