Beastie Boys Announce Beastie Boys Book: Live & Direct Tour

Adam “Adrock” Horovitz and Michael “Mike D” Diamond, the two members that comprise of the rap group, The Beastie Boys, are about to head out on a six-night four-city tour celebrating the release of their upcoming memoir. The Beastie Boys Book: Live & Direct tour will begin October 29th, the day before the book release in New York. The boys will make stops in Brooklyn, Los Angeles, San Francisco before wrapping it up on November 30th where they will cross the pond and make a stop in London.

The six-night event tour will be something that any Beastie Boys fans need to experience. It will feature a special moderator at each stop and include readings, conversations between Horovitz, Diamond and the moderator, Q & A sessions as well as a brand new Beastie Boys exhibit curated by Beastie Boys & Beyond the Streets in partnership with Adidas Skateboarding. A live score will be playing throughout the event by Miz Master Mike.

If the event isn’t tempting enough for fans, those who purchase a ticket for the Beastie Boys Book: Live & Direct tour will get a physical copy of the upcoming book which can be redeemed upon entering the event. The memoir is written by Horovitz and Diamon and has contributions from Amy Poehler, Colson Whitehead, Spike Jonze, Wes Anderson, Luc Sante, and much more. Comprised of 592 pages, the Beastie Boys book is a panoramic experience of how the group came to be all told for the first time in the members own words. Everyone who calls themselves a Beastie Boys fan should order this book. The memoir will have Horovitz and Diamond revealing stories detailing everything from their “transition from teenage punks to budding rappers; their early collaboration with Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin; the debut album that became the first hip-hop record ever to hit #1, Licensed to Ill—and the album’s messy fallout as the band broke with Def Jam.” As well as many other revealing accounts that not only a fan would love but those who love music and love nostalgia.

It is a mountain of nostalgia and will keep you busy for days. Not only will the upcoming memoir feature stories told by the surviving members of the acclaimed group, but it will also include rare photos and original illustrations, a cookbook from chef Roy Choi, a graphic novel, a map of the Beastie Boys’ New York and mixtape playlists. 

The Beastie Boys Book will hit bookstores on Tuesday, October 30th and you can pre-order your copy via Beastie Boys site or through Random House Books.
