The pilot episode of Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty featured members of the metal shock-rockers, GWAR, according to Loudwire. The episode aired in December of 2012 and featured GWAR’s Oderus Urungus and Beefcake the Mighty. The silhouettes of the two intergalactic warriors, shown in a crowd during the episode, were spotted by a GWAR fan, aka a bohab. See the bands twitter post below.
Formed in the mid-80s, GWAR are a science fiction themed metal band. They are known for their grotesque costumes and violent stage performances where audience members are sprayed with fake blood and other bodily fluids. After the death of GWAR’s original frontman, Dave Brockie, the band has consisted of a rotating group of musicians with a small core of mainstays.
The band is in the midst of a tour in support of their latest album, The Blood of the Gods, and recently announced fall tour dates with Hatebreed.
