There will be an upcoming posthumous album by Prince, set to be released in the next week on September 21, 2018 titled Piano and a Microphone 1983. The album itself was made using a minimalistic approach in terms of instruments. According to Stereogum, Prince only used his own voice and a microphone, and the piano to make every track on the album.
Prince had a ‘Vault’ located at Paisley Park, where the music had been recorded once at his home studio in Chanhassen Minnesota.
The song’s lyrics read simply in a repetitive nature: “Mama, mama, what’s this strange, strange, Mama Why the butterflies?” It seems like the lyrics and song itself may have been more personal and a metaphor to the singer’s personal life.
The album seems to be more experimental and less structured than other works by Prince, but will still be able to satisfy listeners in a positive way and continue the legacy he had already made during his lifetime.
