Kanye West Accused of Stealing “I Love It” Bass Line from House DJ David Morales Remix

Kanye West, American rapper whose outspoken and blunt opinions often put him at the forefront of news, has recently released song “I Love It” with the younger and controversial rapper Lil Pump. Despite the new song and video making headlines, Grammy award winning DJ David Morales has accused West of stealing the “I Love It” bass line from one of his own songs.

According to Fader, Morales claimed the bass line for “I Love It” was originally in his own remix of Alexander O’Neal’s 1991 song “What is This Thing Called Love.” Despite the bass line of both songs being extremely similar– nearly identical even– Morales also claims that people from West’s party never approached him to use the sample. Kanye West has previously been accused of plagiarizing work and the subject of other lawsuits, but has so far not commented on Morales’ claims. Despite any possible backlash from this event, West continues to seem unphased as he has recently teased new music on his Instagram story.

West and Lil Pump have never worked before on any projects, so seeing the two release a track together may spark excitement in West’s fanbase. Fans of West may now anticipate new music in which he features other popular artists of today.
