When it comes to music, Jack White is blessed with extraordinary creativity and ingenuity. We are looking forward to watching this musical genius debut his documentary – Jack White: Kneeling at The Anthem D.C. Along with the film, White is set to release his new, live EP on Amazon music on September 21, 2018.
The documentary is directed by Emmett Malloy who also worked on the 2009 documentary, Under the Great White Northern Lights. The new film documents White’s performance at The Anthem on May 30, 2018 in Washington, D.C. The film also captures footage of White at Woodrow Wilson High School and the group touring around D.C. in certain spots.
White released a new album Boarding House Reach on March 23 and revealed that among the tracks is cover with especially distinctive roots. The critically acclaimed singer songwriter revealed to Rolling Stone that on the album he covered historic gangster Al Capone.
White goes on to explain that he purchased a musical manuscript written by Capone during the 1920s while he was imprisoned at Alcatraz. The song called “Humoresque” is Capone’s take on musical piece written by Czech composer Antonin Dvorak. He then elaborates that he was inspired by how a notorious gangster could be motivated by lines like “You thrill and fill this heart of mine, With gladness like a soothing symphony.” White feels that, “Human beings are complicated creatures with lots of emotions going on.”
White was born in Detroit, where he got his start and founded the band, The White Stripes with ex-wife, Meg White. Their first big hit, “Fell in Love with a Girl” brought them much attention, along with their album, White Blood Cells.
In 2005, White helped form the band The Raconteurs and put out the song, “Steady as she Goes” – the band opened for Bob Dylan on multiple occasions. In 2007, White released The White Stripes sixth album, Icky Thump which debuted as number two on the US Billboard’s 200 chart and ranked number one on the UK Albums chart.
