The legendary UK duo Groove Armada are celebrating their 21st anniversary with a series of live shows in the United Kingdom this fall. The four dates will be in London, Bristol, Manchester, and Glasgow. The band ceased to exist as a live group after their final set of shows in 2013, but now Andy Cato and Tom Findlay are bringing back the whole live band for these shows. While the duo performed DJ sets during the previous five years, playing with a full live band is a different beast altogether. For these exclusive concerts, Groove Armada will be bringing out the original backing band to blast through their many hits.
Groove Armada was one of the first electronic acts to bring in a full live band to pump up their concerts, becoming one of the top electronic artists in the world. Groove Armada perfected the art of the live show, blending booming electronics with live instrumentation and overpowering visuals to create one of the most innovative live music experiences of all time. Their dense yet accessible sound won them critical acclaim and a legion of fans ever since their big breakthrough single “I See You Baby” in 1999. Cato and Findlay are both excited to return to the live stage for these special shows this fall. Speaking of the band’s return to the live stage after five years away, Cato had this to say:
“The live show is what defined us. Refining a genuinely live dance music experience became an obsession, from minute sonic details to the number of sides on the lazer glitter ball. The reward was a lawless and electric 15 years on the road; runs at Brixton so long it felt like we lived there, the loudest ever recorded cheer at Lowlands, taking over Centennial Park in Sydney, Saturday nights in Barrowlands, air traffic control on the phone to the Other Stage at Glastonbury, once you start… We did all this with the best on and off stage crew ever assembled. The vibe in the camp was special and radiated. Behind the scenes, from cooks to truckers, we’re always asked if we’ll get the gang back on the road. If we’re going to do it one more time, it’ll be when we’re 21”
