Melvins and Alvin Cisneros of Sleep Release Cover of Black Sabbath Classic “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath”

Hard rockin’ stalwarts Melvins and Alvin Cisneros of Sleep recently announced their new collaborative EP Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, and now they’ve released the title track from the EP. It’s a cover of Black Sabbath’s pioneering metal tune “Sabbath Blood Sabbath,” and predictably, it’s a faithfully-done representation of the track.

The album will be out on Amphetamine Reptile Records. The Linocut art of the EP cover is done by HAZE XXL.

Both bands have had busy 2018 so far. Sleep surprise released a new album The Sciences, which has been hailed as one of the year’s best releases by a wide range of publications (including this one). It had been a long wait for fans of the band, as it was their first new full-length album since the release of Dopesmoker and it’s rerelease as Jerusalem.

Meanwhile, Melvins released new album Pinkus Abortion Technician, which featured Butthole Surfers Jeff Pinkus on bass and several covers of that band’s songs. In 2017 the band released A Walk with Love and Death, which was their first-ever double album (kind of incredible considering their insane prolific streak).
