John Legend Achieves EGOT with Emmy Win as Producer for Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert

John Legend has made another huge milestone in his career. After winning the award for Outstanding Variety Special (Live)  as a producer on the NBC special “Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert,” the singer is now an official EGOT Winner. According to Pitchfork, “Legend is tied as the youngest person to achieve an EGOT win with Robert Lopez.”  Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice also join the ranks of EGOT Winners, with only 12 people achieving the win before. Other past winners include Whoopi Goldberg, Audrey Hepburn, and Mel Brooks just to name few.

In the same article from Pitchfork, it also says “He’s also the first black man to win all four awards. Legend has ten Grammys, an Oscar for “Glory” (his Selma collaboration with Common), and a Tony for co-producing the Broadway play Jitney.

Legend was also nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for his performance in the television special.  Legend starred alongside Alice Cooper, with Cooper starring as King Herrod.
