The five-time Grammy Award winning artist, Michael McDonald, has announced a ten-night series of shows at the intimate New York City supper club, Café Carlyle. McDonald has also announced the release of his Christmas compilation album, Season of Peace: The Christmas Collection, which will feature his most popular Christmas recordings. The residency arrives in the middle of McDonald’s fall and winter tour, kicking off September 9 at Loufest in St. Louis and continuing through December 21 in Oklahoma. Stops along the way feature the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and The Paramount in Huntington, New York. McDonald has most recently been in New York City on August 21 at a packed show on the Pier 17 Rooftop in South Street Seaport. He performed many classics throughout the night, including “Taking It To The Streets” “What A Fool Believes” and “I Keep Forgettin.’”
Throughout his over 40-year career, Michael McDonald played an integral part in both Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers before his solo career took off in the ‘80s and ‘90s. With countless writing credits of famous hits with artists like Van Halen and Kenny Loggins as well as collaborations with a long list of legends including Elton John, Joni Mitchell, and Aretha Franklin, McDonald is an icon who spans genres and generations. Most recently, McDonald has released his 2017 album, Wide Open, which met wide critical acclaim. He went on to perform his single, “Find It In Your Heart,” on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. His upcoming Christmas compilation will feature McDonald’s most popular Christmas songs, including “White Christmas/Winter Wonderland” (feat. Jonny Lang), “Oh Holy Night,” and “Christmas on the Bayou,” as well as a new version of “Winter Wonderland” featuring special guest Jake Shimabukuro.
