Broncho has announced their fourth studio album, Bad Behaviour, expected to drop October 12 via Park the Van Records. The band will spend the fall and winter touring North America in support of the new album, making their way to New York City for a special show at Rough Trade on November 6 before their November 9 show at Brooklyn’s Elsewhere Zone One. The Tulsa, Oklahoma-based indie rock outfit have taken on an energized yet challenging sound and perspective in their latest endeavor. Frontman Ryan Lindsey spoke of the new album’s message saying, “It’s a reflection of the current world: everybody’s been acting badly over the last few years so we made a record about it.” But the band doesn’t claim to be coming from an all-knowing point of view. Rather, Lindsey continues, saying, “It’s observational, like we’re looking through muddy binoculars from a distance. It’s a blurry mirror image of the times from where we sit.” With the catchy, punchy riffs and lyrics from their previous albums and EPs, Broncho weaves their old sound into the new, unashamedly embracing their personal vision and pulling out all the stops.
Since they got their start in 2010, Broncho have been on a steady uphill climb. Their debut album, Can’t Get Past the Lips, was released in 2011 and rereleased in 2013 via Fairfax Recordings with their sophomore album, Just Enough Hip to Be Woman, following it up in 2014 via Dine Alone Records. Their songs from these albums, “It’s On” “Try Me Out Sometime” and “Class Historian,” met popularity and were featured in commercials, films, and television shows. The versatility of their songs come as no surprise as it’s easy to be transplanted to an almost cinematic dreamscape when listening to Broncho’s music, the movie scene practically writing itself. Over their multi-album career, Broncho has made the touring circuit several times, performing with popular artists including Queens of the Stone Age, The Growlers, and Portugal The Man. They’ve also been billed at major festivals like Shaky Knees and SXSW. Their headlining tour is sure to not be missed as the band continually brings an infectious, energized mood to their live shows, impossible to not bop along to.
