The Touring Drummer of Weedeater, Carlos Denogean Passes Away

Weedeater, the metal band from North Carolina made the sad announcement this Saturday that they had lost a member of their band’s family Friday, August 4th with the passing of their touring drummer Carlos Denogean. There are no details on the cause of death at the moment but come back for more updates. The band, according to The PRP,  released a statement via their official Facebook page on the matter:

“There is no easy way to say this. Our dear friend and bandmate Carlos Denogean passed away yesterday. It is with a heavy heart and intense sadness that we bring you this unfortunate news. He left this world far too soon and will be missed immensely by all of us. Anyone that knew Carlos was enamored by his kindness and his warm personality.

He was an incredibly talented musician and a real joy to be around. He brought something truly special to the band, and we all loved working with him. We simply cannot express how devastated we are by this loss. We don’t know any details at this time, and we ask that you, please leave us to grieve now along with Carlos‘ family. Thank you for all of your kind wishes. Cherish what you have while you have it.”

Weedeater formed back in 1998 and was supposed to be a side-project of Dave “Dixie” Collins, the band’s vocalist, and bassist but once his main project, Buzzoven disbanded, he changed his mind. He recruited members Dave “Shep” Shepherd on guitar and Keith “Keko” Kirkum on drums. The band has released five studio albums including their recent, Goliathan, which came out in 2015. Kirkum was the band’s founding drummer but was replaced in 2013 by Travis Owner. Denogean joined Weedeater in 2017 after Owen left due to health reasons. He had only been touring with the group for a year before his passing. Besides being the drummer for Weedeater, Denogean also worked with several other bands including Beard Of Antlers, Salvación, and ASG.

Denogean’s significant other, Puppie Buffé made a heartbreaking post via her personal Facebook expressing her grief, saying, “My heart is broken. My handsome baby is gone and it’s not okay. He didn’t deserve this fate, he wasn’t doing anything wrong. But we’re gonna do right by and carry on his legacy. I love you Carlos Denogean and I know you’re rockin’ with Lemmy, Dio and the rest of your gang.” Denogean will be missed by not only his family and friends but by metal fans all over the world.
