Donald Trump has slowly, but surely, been getting more backlash for his obvious fascist practices as leader of the United States. Not only has Michael Cohen just thrown Trump under the bus, but musicians are also giving him a taste of some bitter medicine.
Steven Tyler, legendary singer of rock and roll’s Aerosmith, has sent a lovely cease and desist letter due to the case that Trump is playing Aerosmith songs at his rallies.
According to Pitchfork and Variety, the letter claims that Trump played Aerosmith’s “Livin’ On The Edge” at his rally in West Virginia without the permission of the band.
A letter to variety states that “By using ‘Livin’ on the Edge’ without our client’s permission, Mr. Trump is falsely implying that our client, once again, endorses his campaign and/or his presidency.”
Tyler took to the news, though, to explain his reasoning. He states that this is not something political against one party or the other. When it comes to using his music without permission, Tyler will not allow it. He states his music, though for causes in human rights and love, are not for political matters such as these. In times like these, he expresses, it is important to protect the creative integrity of musicians. These, among other reasons, is why Tyler is pushing the Music Modernization act. This act, if voted in, will protect musicians against lewd streaming deals and creative rights.
