Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus have joined forces to make a new band named boygenius. Bridgers recently announced the collaborative project at NPR music’s “Turning Tables Live” Concert,” which then lead to a photo of the three women with the caption “boygenius,” hinting at the band’s name.
The girl power trio has also shared three new songs off of their upcoming self-titled debut EP, set to be released November 9th via Matador Records. The three new songs are titled “Me & My Dog,” “Stay Down,” and “Bite the Hand.” Check out the album artwork and tracklist below. Following the album release, they will be going on tour in support of the record in North America, set to kick off November 4th in Nashville, TN. Other cities the tour is expected to hit include two back-to-back nights in Brooklyn and Chicago, Denver, and Seattle before concluding in Los Angeles November 30th. According to Pitchfork, “the shows will feature solo sets from each artist.” See the full itinerary below. Baker, Dacus, and Bridgers will also be playing some solo gigs prior to the boygenius tour across Europe and North America. Bridgers and Dacus recently performed their song “Me & My Dog” for the first time in Thekla, Bristol. See the performance below.
In the same article, it was also stated that the band recorded their new album this past June in Los Angeles, CA. In a press release, Baker states, “When we met, Lucy and Phoebe and I were in similar places in our lives and our musical endeavors, but also had similar attitudes toward music that engendered an immediate affinity.”
