Director and producer J.J. Abrams’ production company Bad Robot, which has produced some great films and television shows, is now delving into the music scene. The production company has just launched a new indie music label, appropriately titled Loud Robot. They will be partnering with Capitol Music Group and according to Consequence of Sound, “the label will specialize in short-term projects with rising and more well-known musicians to release original music.” It was also mentioned that they “will also utilize the label to place music in its own movies, TV shows, and video games.”
Brian Weinstein will take on the role as president and COO of the label. Weinstein will be joined by music supervisor Charles Scott, who has supervised music on productions for Star Trek, and Castle Rock. The co-managers for Loud Robot will be McKee Floyd and Nicky Berger. Floyd was previously with Glassnote Entertainment Group, marketing for artists including Childish Gambino, and Mumford and Sons. Berger first managed the band Grouplove, which led to him merging with two other managers in 2016 who have managed Grizzly Bear, and War on Drugs.
Bad Robot is gearing up for the release of their World War II zombie movie, Overlord, set to be released October 26th. The company also recently announced that they will produce a new sci-fi thriller Aporia, a film that will include elements of time travel. The plot, cast, and other info are being kept under wraps for right now.
