Witchcraft, the legendary metal band from Sweden failed to play their Friday set at Psycho Las Vegas due to challenging travel plans. Details remain limited as to why Witchcraft missed the Vegas festival other than poor travel arrangements. At this time, it appears the band missed their flight to Las Vegas, but it’s still unclear why. Witchcraft was scheduled to play the headlining set Friday night, making it the band’s first U.S. performance in nine years. The cancellation was announced via social media hours before Witchcraft was scheduled to take the stage, leaving many fans surprised and disappointed.
According to a Facebook post, to make up for their missed performance, Witchcraft fans with Friday tickets will have access to their 2018 U.S. tour dates. In the band’s absence, Comedian Andrew Dice Clay, was scheduled to perform at The Joint, the festivals main stage, at midnight.
Psycho Festival originated in California in 2013 but moved to Las Vegas in 2016, taking over the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. This year’s lineup also included Goblin, Danzig, High on Fire, Zakk Sabbath, Survive and more. A festival favorite among music fans and critics, Psycho Festival also won the award for best Las Vegas festival last year.
UPDATE (8/20): Those bummed out that they missed the chance to see Witchcraft play in the United States for the first time in several years, there’s at least some silver lining. After the festival apologized for the band’s absence from the Friday night headlining slot, Pyscho Vegas promised to give festival ticketholders “access” to the band’s upcoming 2018 United States tour (which has not been officially announced yet). Asked if “access” meant some sort of presale or actual tickets to the shows, the festival clarified on Facebook that they’ll provide tickets:
