A new Korn album appears to be in the works after drummer Ray Luzier posted a photo to Instagram from a recent session at Rock Falcon Studios, Blabbermouth reports. The post features a gleeful Luzier behind his drum kit with a caption reading, “Great Day at the Studio.”
Luzier’s hashtags reveal the photo was snapped by Korn guitarist James Shaffer and the album will most likely be produced studio owner Nick Raskulinecz who produced the group’s previous 2016 record, The Serenity of Suffering, Consequence of Sound reports. Raskulinecz recently produced the forthcoming Alice in Chains record, Rainier Fog as well as Halestorm’s July release, Vicious.
The news, according to NME, comes following the announcement from Korn frontman Jonathan Davis last May that Korn were “gonna get together as a band in July and start putting their ideas together in the studio and start working on it.”
Davis went on to say of the new record, “It’s in the future, definitely. When I get back after this European [solo] run, I start writing vocals for the stuff that they’ve done. We’re gonna keep working through the year, so hopefully we’ll have it out, probably, this time next year.”
Last May, Davis released his debut solo record, Black Labyrinth, and has been touring in support of the endeavor. Davis says of his solo album, glide magazine reports, “I’ve bared my soul for so fucking long, I thought it’d be really cool to pull listeners in a different direction for once. I’m taking them out of that dark place and into somewhere that’s spiritual, positive and makes them really think.”
Korn will commemorate the 20th anniversary of their 1998 album, Follow the Leader, with shows September 12 at the Masonic in San Francisco, September 13 at the Palladium in Los Angeles, and September 15 at the Pearl Theater in Las Vegas.
