Pearl Jam performed cover of the White Stripes classic, “We’re Going to Be Friends” at their August 8th show in Seattle, as a tribute to teachers around the world.

Eddie Vedder spoke about the significance of teachers and their roles in local communities, prior to performing the track from White Stripes’ 2001 album, White Blood Cells.

He then paused to give special recognition to two notable guests in the audience that night.

“And we have two special teachers that my kids brought tonight that I wanted to allow them some notoriety and some applause and some recognition from their fine group of neighbors here in Seattle. And I’d like to play this for them, borrowed from my friend Jack,” Vedder announced.
