Mazzy Star Announces First US Performance in 5 Years at Southern California’s Tropicalia Festival

Formed in Santa Monica, California, Mazzy Star is an indie-alt rock formed from the 1989 pieces of the band Opal. Forming in the late eighties, the band toured and worked endlessly until 2014 when they took a much needed indefinite hiatus/rest.

Now, according to Pitchfork, Mazzy Star has announced their first tour since 2013, a hefty five-year gap. Their last tour for their latest album Seasons of Your Day. Now, Mazzy Star is slated to perform at this years Tropicalia Fest located at the Queen Mary Park in Long Beach.

Mazzy Star will will be playing alongside some of music’s most recent greats such as Cardi B, Mac Demarco, Mild High Club, Chicano Batman, and many, many more.

This show and tour will also be the first time this band has played together without their drummer Keith Mitchell who passed away in 2017.

This past June, Mazzy Star released their EP titled Still; a four track collection incouding the amazing piece, “Quiet, the Winter Harbor.”

Tropicalia Fest will take place this November 3rd and 4th. Passes to the festival go on sale this Friday, August 10th at 10am. Get your tickets here. Jeremy Bacharach: Born in Los Angeles, CA, Jeremy has always been a lover of music. After graduating Hamilton High School with a focus in technical theatre, Jeremy ventured forth to Portland, Oregon so as to study at Lewis and Clark College. After bouncing around majors, he decided to focus on music composition and theory for the purpose of understanding why he loves what he loves. Aside from his major studies in composition, Jeremy also partook in sutdying Jazz Guitar, choir, and piano for the pure joy (and the requirements).
