Electronic music artist Dntel also known as Jimmy Tamborello has released his new LP Hate In My Heart, his first new record in 4 years. The new material, comprised of 10 compositions,  was recorded in Tamborello’s home in 2017 using a Buchla Music Easel and a few pedals and later edited.

Via Press release, Tamborello describes the new album as “an experimental electronic music meditation therapy working through the current conflicting political climate in the United States of America. While calling out the current negativity, Dntel’s intention is to offer hope from the hate.”

Dntel began making music in 1989 in Santa Barbara, California after his father purchased him a drum machine, sequencer, keyboard and eight-track recorder. He has previously released 5 albums including Life is Full of Possibilities (2001), Mistake Mistake Mistake Mistake (2006), Dumn Luck (2007), Aimlessness (2012) and Human Voice.

During a 2017 interview with Under the Radar, Tamborello discusses his highly regarded 2001 record Life is Full of Possibilities, saying, “There was never a point where it hit it big or was a big seller or anything. It felt big to me, but there was no big success story with it.”

He adds, “I remember in L.A. there was pretty much no scene that I was a part of for electronic music. I would play shows with bands a lot more than I would with other electronic artists. Now there are a lot more outlets for it, and it’s more accepted as an art-form. It has been so integrated into other music that everyone is used to it now.”

Additionally, Tamborello has collaborated with Ben Gibbard and Jenny Lewis to form Postal Service. The group released Give Up via indie label Sub Pop in 2003. In 2013, Postal Service reunited to tour and re-issued Give Up in celebration of its tenth anniversary.
